none
double DisplayName, doube Profiles, same WinLiveID, can login to only one RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

When I first subscribed in MSDN (about two years ago), I entered my “Display Name” as  “vbnetskywalker”, and I uploaded an avatar.
    and made some newbie posts,
    here is one of them
after that, every time I tried to log in, a screen kept showing up, asking me to change my “Display Name”  (I didn’t know why, and still don’t),
when I gave it “vbnetskywalker”, it told me that it’s a booked name

why did it ask me in the first place ?
    And I couldn’t login until I gave it a new name “vbnetskywalker1”,

and from that day ….. my Display Name became “vbnetskywalker1”

the weird thing about this is that name now has a profile on its own
here,  and I got another profile here  …….(how come , while I signed in with my Windowslive ID)

if you look at “vbnetskywalker” avatar, it’s my picture, I designed myself…….
and now I’m with the default avatar, ……. How is that ?

I know this is a very old issue I had about two years ago,
but yesterday, I had to login to MSDN, I saw it again, it reminded me, It’s annoying ….
I mean, It looks very pathetic to have this “1” next to my name (which looks like another guy’s name)
I can’t give my name up, it’s been my name since ever.

I’m ready to do whatever it takes to prove that I am the same guy of the two profiles,
someone send him an email (if you’re authorized) and I’ll tell you exactly what you sent him,
cuz the email will come to my inbox to: yasserdaheek@windowslive.com

I don’t know if anyone ever would reply for such a post
    thanks for reading at least

  • Hi Vbnetskywalker1,
    Sure,it's boring.
I've checked from back end server that your original profile:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/profile/vbnetskywalker doesn't have any activities since it was registered on Oct 16 2008,I mean no publish posts,no forum answers,no contributions etc.
And i can't retrieve its WLID from display name vbnetskywalker.
While this profile: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/profile/vbnetskywalker1 i can find its associated WLID.
Hence i suggest Click HERE and submit your information via our Site Feedback system for resolution.

  • HI vbnets !

    I think you need to submit your request at Microsoft at below link;

    https://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/mailform/contactus.aspx?refurl=http%3a%2f%2fsocial.msdn.microsoft.com%2fForums%2fen-US%2fProfile%2fthread%2fddfb2508-3a9e-4f12-abab-e55e21d42086

Note : Here is a similar thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Profile/thread/c687fb5f-cf7d-4b7d-b59d-41b7112f4308 wih same issue.

You can't merge 2 accounts but i think you can change your Windows Live ID Associated with your profile. I am sure Sean will further help you in this.

Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you. Hope I have answered you correctly.

    Thanks,
    Hasham

  • Thanks guys.
Feedback has been sent ( with a link to this thread for details).
I hope my DisplayName becomes “vbnetskywalker” without that ugly “1” next to it :)

    Thanks again

Just verifying that Hasham is correct. You can't merge 2 accounts, but it's possible to change your ID.

Thank you very much, and everyone worked on this.
I didn't exactly understand what happened (mixing the two IDs), but I'm not gonna ask.
I signed in/out a couple of times, changed my profile a bit and seems like my problem's been solved (and I proposed the "Sending feedback suggested by Pan Zhang" as an answer).

    Thanks again.
