Workflow: Update Entity: How to update a Picklist attribute? RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is for CRM4 with Rollup 3

    When creating a Workflow
    When using the Update Activity

How do you select a Picklist attribute to update its value?

Whether you click on the Picklist, or tab focus onto the Picklist
In the Form Assistant, the attributes dropdown is always empty.

Interestinly, the Default value dropdown does list all the picklist values.
But, the main attribute dropdown is empty.

    Both Picklists are identical !

    iow:
How can you set one picklist to update its value to that of another picklet (assming the 2 piklists are identical)?

    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Agreed.

To do it proper, you would need some form of Mapping layer in the middle, and if mapping failed, use the indicated default.

I am putting a custom WF Activity together that should be able to support this.

  • Hi,

You will not get that working.

The only alternativ I can see (unless there are 100's of values) using WF, is to create a number of ifstatements,

    pseudo ... you understand:
if (combo1 = 'hallo') update entitye (set combo2 = 'Hallo')
    else
if (combo1 = 'xmas') update entitye (set combo2 = 'xmas')

  • Hi,

Some some extent I can understand why MS is doing like that, because there is no guarantee that your both lists are equal, and that it's only the ref. value stored ... etc ... that you probably have figured out already...... it a bit frustrating in your case.

    Happy Work Flow Config.
