Client code settings vs. service.config file settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some settings can be set on either the client in code or the service side in the service.config file. Some that come to mind are the clientIdleTimeout, sessionIdleTimeout, and serviceOperationTimeout settings.

    If these settings are set in both the client code and the service.config file, does one or the other take precedence?

    For example, what if we have set BrokerSettings.ClientIdleTimeout = 2073600000 on the client, and

    <microsoft.Hpc.Broker>

      <monitor ... clientIdleTimeout="300000" ... />

    ...

    in the service.config file?

    Thanks,

    Derek
