  • I think you have to write a custom plugin on create or update event of these entities and in this custom plugin, you can generate your barcode according to some formuale. Here are some code you can use in this plugin code.

( i think if you google, you can find other barcode solution as well).

the problem may be how will you save your barcode (an image?), unfornately, MS CRM doesn't support image datatype.
In this senario, you have to create a custom database and save your image in binary format in this database and relate it to the respective entity (contact, accoun or campaign response).
The other option is to save the image on the file storage.

  • Hi,

Further to Ali's post can you please explain the business requirement for generating Barcodes for accounts/contacts/campaigns responses?

I'm curious to know why you would need to do this in a CRM system.

  • Some companies like registered in FSA they need to keep paper documentation. In this case it is easier to use barcodes for accounts/contacts.

jbogrbs - from my experience you will have barcodes in CRM as image (I was keeping them in Sharepoint and using iframe to dispay it).

To generate them I was using plugin (when new contacts was created it was generate a new barcode and saved in Sharepoint folder). The harder part was to find application to generate barcodes.

  • Right, my main focus right now is for CRM to generate a barcode based on a unique identifier.
