Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Web Scheduler

Question

Does the Web scheduler support a non Exchange smtp server? (i.e. Google mail or my ISP's email )
If that is the case where can the SMTP userid/password authentication info are specified. Looking at XML configuration file the only parameter for the SMTP is the server name?

Tonino D from http://www.proexchange.be provided the answer to my question, for the benefit of the others I am posting it here .
"The Web Scheduler will send the email as the user that is creating the conference and uses the RTCComponentService account to do this or the account name you choose to use. Therefore you will need to ensure this account has the relevant permission to do this. In Exchange this is done by granting the “Send As” right to the RTCComponentService Account. Jaytaba.
This will work with any SMTP relay server that allows that server to send SMTP messages to it. This is used to send the invites to attendees only.

The "WebScheduler.msi" creates a web.config which only has an empty string for the SMTPServer. So the question becomes, does it work only with an open relay SMTP server, if not then how do I specify the authentication values (userid/password)?
