This seems to be something that ought to be the subject of a private e-mail conversation.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the subject of this forum (Forum Issues) and even if someone is granted Moderator rights in a forum somewhere, it is entirely wrong for them to post such a post to the Forum Issues forum. (or ought this forum be swamped with similar messages from newly appointed Moderators ?)
I suggest that a Moderator here deletes it as being completely off-topic.
SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx
WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx
Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters -
I don't think we get too many such messages, so I think it's OK for this one. I agree it's sort of a private point, but not too private to not be part of the forum.
But if it's OK, I can move this thread to Moderator's only forum.

Agreed. I need a public system of accountability to do tasks that no one is tasked to do (and I'm far on the bottom of that list, since I don't work in forums or TechNet/MSDN).
However, Mike's right. My current process is I start on email and validate the need and qualifications of the individual. Once the need is validated and the individual is qualified for the nomination, I ask them to open a thread here in order to track progress on the task.

Hi Ed,
I have sent an email (1 month ago) to you regarding sharepoint forum moderator / Answerer but i have not received any response. Could you please let me know the procedure to get this right?

Hemendra,
Good call, I've asked for that as well and was given Answerer, because like you I spend ages in those forums. I'm not sure who the Owner is, but if you got answer it'll be a start. I think the SP forum mod team has been rejigged recently as Mike lost his, Margeriet got them and I see a few more MSFTS / WicreSoft moderators across both sets now so perhaps the owner is seeing how those changes pan out.
I think it's important to discern why people want to be moderators. I frequently see spam posts, double posts and questions in the wrong area across the 2007 and 2010 forums. An an Answerer you're not able to sort all of those out but I've seen you in the forums for at least two years now and believe you can contribute to marking up / down answers as I do.
Hope you get something back soon.

I've got a new process I'm trying out to make it possible to find the owners.
So far, so good.
Syed, I'll have the request sent out to the owners and return with an update.
Steven, it's all one-off efforts. Mike left for specific reasons. I helped Margriet get added. It sounds like you have some value to add in specific forums. You can email me your profile and links to the forums, along with reasons as to why there's a need for you to be a moderator and reasons why you're qualified (MCC, recognition, how long you've been an Answerer, etc.). It's edprice at Microsoft.
Thanks!

Hi Steven,
>I frequently see spam posts, double posts and questions in the wrong area across the 2007 and 2010 forums.
That is good point here. I also see lots of spams, duplicate thread and off topic post(i would say off topic post which are related to 2007 but posted in 2010 or just reverse). I believe there are few moderator in 200 forum compare to 2010.
I am waiting for ed reply whether i am eligible for become moderator / answerer or not.
