  • Question

  • Brand new install, no firewalls, no router, nothing installed except the motherboard / video card drivers.

I've done the http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ and the resolve now, which sent me to page telling me to change my date and time...really?

I've flashed my bios, time is identical and correct both in the properties and in my bios.  Seems to be a problem that has come up before, but there are no solutions to be found in previous threads and in the knowledge base.

This was OEM disk, with the the following information.

    76487-OEM-0069686-01322

  • So the first generic and ridiculous response I figured whatever...let it slide...but this is getting just stupid.  I'm going to restate exactly what I stated in my original post.

I've flashed my bios, time is identical and correct both in the properties and in my bios.  Seems to be a problem that has come up before, but there are no solutions to be found in previous threads and in the knowledge base.

so to recap so I don't get told to do something I've already done several times (the dignostic test) or to checked the time in my bios.  I'VE ALREADY DONE THIS.  The problem is the fact that the time in the windows time / date property AND the time in my bios, IS CORRECT.  Again it would seem I'm not the first to have this problem.

  • kaiserm,

Please check to see if you are in the correct Time Zone.

That is a very interesting issue and we don’t have a good answer for this one without additional information.  We would really like to get a better understanding of this issue so we can better assist not only you but other users with similar problems as well.  Could you please submit a service request with Microsoft Product Support using the following link:  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52029.  Please include your product key for (Office or Windows) so we may analyze specifics surrounding the problems you are encountering. Also please run the diagnostic test again for inclusion with the support incident. This will enable us to review current information after the changes you made. Once you have done that, please reply back to this post and provide the SR # generated by the service request.  Please let us know if you would be willing to do this!!

    Thank you,

  • kaiserm,

To confirm there are no other blocking issues with your validation such as clock out of synch or IE settings blocking the validation process please run the WGA Diagnostics located here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

If everything here is confirmed as functioning properly and you still have issues validating could you please run the Diagnostic tool again and post the information for us.

    Validation Status: Clock sync error

It means there are some problems with the clock synchronization between the validation server and the local computer. You can try this:

    Verify the system Date

    ======================

Double-click the clock in the notification area, at the far right of the Taskbar. In the "Date/Time Properties" dialog box, change the date and time to today's date and time. Click "OK" to accept the changes, and then close the Control Panel.

    Verify the BIOS Date
    =====================
We can enter the Motherboard BIOS settings and check if the date is correct.

    How to enter BIOS:

Start your computer and keep pressing the "Del" key to Enter BIOS settings. (Some computers should use F10 or F2)

  • Hello,

Just to confirm, did you go to www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the "Resolve Now" button and followed the directions provided?

Also, can you confirm the Year is correctly set to 2008 as well as the Time Zone is correctly set for your region?  Please reference this information located in your system tray located in the lower right corner of your screen. Also you may need to adjust the motherboard BIOS and set the time to the correct date and time.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue.

    Thank you,

  • Hello Enduser,

Can you also please run the MGA Diagnostic Test for us please? We request all users initially run the Genuine Diagnostics tool to try and identify the problem you may be experiencing.  Did you receive any error codes and/or statements whatsoever indicating a failed validation?  Please try validating windows again by visiting the following location:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine next click on the "Validate Windows" button in the upper right corner.  What happens?  The genuine site can also provide you with valuable information so please take time and review the documents.  Another site for helping customers identify genuine vs. non-genuine software is located here:  http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/

Next please download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.  This would assist us immensely so we may analyze possible causes for a failed validation.  Next we will begin formulating a resolution for what may be causing the problem.

Step 2 is telling us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?

    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

    Thank you,
