  • Question

  • It took my hard drive with a genuine copy of windows 7 pro and put it in a different laptop. When I turned on the system I was promoted to (I'm not sure the exact message) but it was something like, there was a hardware change start your system to an earlier date. So I did. When I restarted my system I received a message that my windows 7 pro wasn't genuine. I tried to enter my product key and it won't except it.

  • If you have an OEM version of Windows 7, please be advised that the OEM license cannot be transferred to a different computer as it is permanently tied to the original computer it was first activated on.  You would need to purchase a new Windows 7 license for activating the hard drive w/Windows 7 on a different computer.
