0x4, 0, 0, 0 boot sector virus hard drive removal help RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Dell laptop running windows xp. It had a virus and I tried everything. My last resort was to remove windows and try to reinstall it. I am unable to reinstall it says error 0x4,0,0,0 and that is all I can do with it. I googled it and came up with it is most likely a boot sector virus.

The only thing I can think of is wiping out the hard drive. There is absolutely nothing I need on there. I mainly just use it for internet. I can't seem to find a way to do this. I can't get the computer to do anything besides show that message. I am able to use f2 and enter set up menu. Of course once I get there, I have no idea what to do.

    Please any advice will help
