CRM 2011 Can't Import Contact with same full name as Company Name RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Can anybody help with the following issue?

    We are unable to import a Contact who has the same full name as the Company they belong to.

    An example would be a csv file has a   Contact full name, 'Test Company' and their Parent Company as 'Test Company'. 

    The import fails at the Transform stage with the error message duplicate lookup reference for the Company.

    I can confirm that there is only 1 Company called 'Test Company' also there are no duplicate rules which affect this the issue occurs even if Duplicate checking is turned off for Imports.

  • Ah, but Parent Company is actually Parent Customer and parent customer can be an account or a contact. So, during the import, I guess that CRM is saying oh, there is a contact called Test Company and a company called Test Company so which one should I choose for Parent Customer, can't decide and gives up.
