Is it worth doing the TS silverlight 4 506 exam ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi im doing an internship at the moment and ive been working with windows phone 7.5, trying to make an app for a company. So ill be working on this for the next few months. I thought it would be a good idea to maybe do some windows phone related certification at the same time to increase what i learn, increase motivation and get a cert out of it. So i looked at the first exam of the old M

But i see its being retired in July and i dont see any alternative, even for windows phone 8. Also for the MCPD phone cert i would have to pay for 2 more exams both of which seem to be retiring too.

Should i maybe just take the silverlight exam, or take all 3 of the MCPD windows phone exams. or just ignore them all and focus on another cert that is more recent (such as MCSD web developer, which i want to pursue also).

So just do silverlight exam for : MCTS: Silverlight 4, Development cert

Do all windows phone exams for: MCPD: Windows phone developer cert

DOnt bother and focus on different technologies that are more recent that i plan to do anyone: MCSD: Web applications solutions developer

  • Hi,

I don't know the plans for certifications on WP8, but the MCPD: Windows Phone requires a recertification all two years so I would think the new mobile certifications will be based on this MCPD. In my opinion it is worth to go for it, but it would be a safe option to wait for an update. For some details on the plans for further WP certifications have a look at the comments on this blog post.

If you already plan to take the MCSD: Web Applications you can/should go for it first and during the preparation for theses exams there could be an update on the new phone certifications.
