Federation Metadata URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello;

    I have installed Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. I go to setup the Claims Based Authentication and it asks me for the Federation Metadata URL. Now I used the AD FS that was on the Server so where do I find this URL?

    Thanks,

    David Kellett

  • In ADFS you can find this URL under:

    Trust Relationships -> Monitoring tab

    Otherwise here is a good guide on setting up the entire thing: Microsoft CRM 2011 How to Configure IFD Hosted Setup

  • Okay;

    I am not using AD FS 2.0. I am using the AD FS that comes with the Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64bit. I attempted to load the AD FS 2.0 and it errored out with a message informing me that it could not be installed on my version of Windows Server. I checked my AD FS and there is no "Trust Relationships" listed there.

    Thank you,

  • Microsoft recommends ADFS 2.0 for an IFD configuration. ADFS 1.1 is the default version with Server 2008 R2. I'd recommend walking through the previous link or this one from the beginning to make sure everything it set up correctly.

    Configuring Claims-based Authentication for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

    I'd also maybe double check which version of ADFS 2.0 you tried to install - there are different versions for Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2.

  • Okay, I got ADFS 2.0 installed, but there is nothing under the Trust Relationships folders, nothing in Relaying party trusts. What do I do now?

    Thanks,

  • Have you gone through the guide from the beginning? It sounds like nothing has been configured yet.

  • Okay, Thanks for the information, but I had to go and uninstall the ADFS 2.0 and re-install it as it would not let me change the certificate. Now when I re-install and I am going through the configuration wizard it selects a default certificate and will not let me change it. What can I do now?

    Thank you,

  • You can only use certificates that are already installed on the server. You need to install the certificates before you run the configuration wizard
