WHS Connector and Anti-Virus RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 on my netbook, installed the WHC connector (I'm running PP3 on the WHS), and it told me I had no antivirus installed. (Correctly, haven't installed it yet). However, I then installed Avast! and updated it fully, and WHS is still telling me I have no antivirus or it isn't up to date.

Can anyone else repeat this? Is it a bug with the way the connector turns off some of the notifications in the security centre, so Windows 7 never realises it has got antivirus software installed? I've uninstalled the connector, but the antivirus options in security centre never return.

As I've not installed much yet on the netbook, am going to do another clean install of Win 7, and install the antivirus and update it first. The then WHS connector.

  • I've done my clean install, installed the anti-virus, brought it up to date, and now it's happy after installing the connector, so I'll flag it as a bug.

  • I have this same problem with Avast, but it went away after a reboot or two.  I also noticed it didn't give me the error when I installed BitDefender on another system.  I did notice, however, that even after I uninstalled BitDefender and then installed Avast, when Avast was out of date, the pop-up balloon said that BitDefender was out of date, even though I had uninstalled it and installed something different.
