Wndows Vista - activation key wont work

Question
-
Hi!
we brought a Acer Aspire AX1800 last September. Have been trying since then to get activation key to work no-one can figure it out, these forums were suggested.
Every time i enter it an alert pops up stating 'The key is incorrect. Verify you have the correct key, and then retype it'
I know its correct, there is a sticker on the side of the PC showing it.
Ive been to the retailer so many times & they cant do anything to help, other than to try & sell me another one!
Does anyone have an idea?
cheers!

Hello kylie2100,
Does the window that asks for the Product Key come up when you first boot into Windows or does it come up when you open an Office program (such as Word or Excel)?
A) If it happens when you first boot into Windows, then download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.
B) If it happens only when you first open an Office program such as Word or Excel, then please know that Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office. If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a license (product key) for Microsoft Office.
The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows (the operating system) and not for Microsoft Office. Please review the following for additional information:
