  • Hello again Darin,

I did as you asked and both Vista Ultimate and Office Ultimate passed. There were no fails, nothing untoward at all. This appears to be a bit of a mystery altogether and looks as though it was a glitch that has resolved itself. I think it possibly happened when I did a system save on blueray disc only to discover that I could not recover my system with the disc and forced me to reload my software. I did get in touch with Sony about this but unfortunately for me their operator was less than helpful. My system failed twice and I put it down to something that I had done inadvertently. I now do frequent saves in the hope that I can avoid another system crash. I really appreciate you taking the time to help with my problem and was unaware of the forum and the help available through people like yourself. Once again thank you for your assistance it was greatly appreciated.

I have decided to read the book from cover to cover now so that I will have a better understanding of what I am doing.

    Thank you again, Darin

  • Hello Brenda Sutherland,

Your Diuagnostic Report shows your Office as Genuine. Would you provide a detailed description of the issue you are experiencing?

  • Hello Darin Smith,

Thank you for your help with this problem. I am not entirely computer literate but running a business demands up to date technology that I sometimes struggle with especially when faced with an error. I also subscribe to Microsoft Office Live and when I was downloading one of the freebies on that site that a check on outlook with the GA tool pre downloading the program that I received the message that my copy of Outlook was not genuine. The software package is Microsoft Office Ultimate. I purchased the book published by Microsoft Press "2007 Microsoft Office System" but decided using Office Live was easier than reading the  book. I also experienced problems when downloading the update for Microsoft Office so gave up trying. Do you think I would be better saving my files and reloading the Office program?

I look forward to any advice that is on offer.

    Best regards,

    Brenda Sutherland

  • Hi Brenda,

First off, go to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the "Start Diagnostic" button. The site will check office and confirm all the correct settings are set up to allow Office to Validate properly. (If any of the lines show Fail the site will either give you steps to correct the setting or it will allow you to click the "Resolve Now" and the site will fix the issue itself).

Once all the lines show Pass click the "Validate Office" button. If the Validation fails, please provide the error message the site provided.

After Validating Office, you may want to Validate Windows to confirm the issue isn't coming from that direction, instead of Office. To Validate Windows, go to http://microsoft.com/genuine and click the "Validate Windows".

    Thank you,

    Darin
