    I have a older computer that I was planning on putting a large hard drive in and using it as my home server.
    It is a Compaq with an AMD Athlon 3500 2.2 GHz with 1.43 GB ram.
    I just replaced the hard drive in it for a 1 TB Seagate hard drive using a SATA connection
    I booted it using the installation disc and it installed updates to build 379 with SP2
    When it got to the finalizing portion of the installation it popped up with this error.

    Continuing to configure storage failed: The system cannot find the path specified (error: 0x80070003)

    I looked up the error message and the solution for it said that it had something to do with an error from an update but that seems unlikely since the error message had to do with the hard drive space. After exiting the installation I could run WHS but the hard drive is only 20GB. Which it obviously is much larger. It seems to me that either there is a problem with the version of WHS or the drivers of the hard drive. Not sure what to do at this point.

    Did you keep the DVD in the drive during the entire setup process? (which is completed not before you get the message, that Windows Home Server setup is finished)

    I had exactly the same installation trouble on an older gateway E4300 computer.  The only fix I found was moving to a newer PC.  WHS install ran first time with no trouble at all on my old ASUS Rampage Formula (which is much newer hardware, of course).

    Same problem here - due to a failed DVD I needed to install WHS from a USB drive.  The end result is that the system almost finished to the the point I was getting the same error messages.  I believe the final answer to my problem was the following

    #1 Due to the older hardware the WHS install did not recongnize the NIC - I had to manually install the NIC driver.  I believe this causes hickups in the insall process.

    #2 I had left the bad DVD drive connected, even though I was not using it for the installation. 

    #3 I made the mistake of manually creating the data volume - the install program likes to that itself - so if you manually create it and you get the message complaining that the volume can not be created, just delete and let the install program finish the job. 

    If your install get to the point where its almost finished, i.e. the WHS is there but whenever your reboot it seems to get back into the install rather then the begging screen - check for the problems mentioned above.
