You're not the only one.
On our CRM 4.0 server, we also get up to 50 log entries per second.
IMO this is the worst component that has ever left Microsoft.
We see it crashing very often due content in mails (what? will a content of a mail cause the service to literally CRASH?!?!), sometimes when it encounters a mail it cannot process for some reason, it just hangs forever.
We also had to implement workarounds in order to keep the service from crashing whenever it encountered an ampersand or quotes in mail headers.
And then all the event log spamming. How about a dedicated event log just for the router, plus a feature saying "hey, this alert has occurred more than 10 times over the past minute. I'll now shut up about this error for 5 minutes...."
Somebody just didn't do their design and programming well enough.
