Security Roles RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using CRM 2011.

I have created a Custom Entity.

I have added a User a added them to a Business Unit. The Business Unit contains a Security Role.

In the Security Role I have assigned Business Unit (already tried Organisationa nd all others) to Create, Read and Write the Custom Entity but my User cannot Create or Read or do anything in the Custom Entity.

Do I need to do something else to enable the User ?

    Thanks.

    J.

  • Hi,

Make sure that user has Read and Write Priveleges of the entity also make sure that user security role have customization privelges as selected in Sales Person role. I would suggest you to create a copy of Sales Person, Marketing Professional or Customer Service Representitve roles (they have least priveleges) etc security role and start removing unnecessary privleges and get the exact working security role as you want.

  • Hi,

Make sure that the security role has been assigned to the user (you have to grant custom entity priveleges from Security Role->Custom Entities Tab) and is user able to access other entities information including any other custom entities?

  • Thanks for the reply.

Under Security Role -> Custom Entities Tab I have assigned Business Unit priveleges for Read, Write etc.

I have also assigned the security Role to the user.

Still User cannot Create or Read or anything.

  • To create new records you also need "Create" privilege.

Have you given this permission as well?

With read you should be able to read all the records in the business unit, with write you can modify them.

Verify you have the correct entity.

  • Thanks for the reply Sven.

I have given the permission to Create, Read, Write, Append, Append To, Assign, Share.

I gave the user Administrator priveleges and they were able to create a record.

I then took the Administrator priveleges away and they are now still able to Create a record ..... strange

  • The user can now Create but cannot Read or Write a record on the Custom Entity.

    Anyone any ideas?

  • Which Security Role have you been updating? Security Roles under any business unit except the Organization BU are inherited from the Org BU and cannot be modified. Make sure the Security Role you are updating is associated with the Organizational BU (the top BU).
