renewal of live one care RRS feed

  • Question

  •

My live one care came up for the renewal a couple of weeks ago.  I hit the renew button and it had me sign in.  After signing in, Iwas asked to update my credit card.  After all this was done, All I show is a subscription to msn music.

Live one care keeps asking me to renew.  Thinking I was to late, I purchased a new one care CD.  I went ti install this and it said I already had a version installed, yet nothing works.  I uninstalled the version on my computer and installed the one I just bought.  All went fine, but it is again saying I need to new.  How do I correct this?

  • You've got two choices.

    1. Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare.

    2. Uninstall OneCare, reinstall OneCare and click Subscribe. Use a *different* LiveID to create a new subscription and activate with the retail key.

  • I am having the same problem.  I orginally installed one care in  my laptop, which I no longer have.  I'm trying to renew on my new desktop and I get the message 2002.  It says I don't have an account associated with my current sign in.  I have no problem signing in for my MS money program, which I do every day. Why the heck does Microsoft make it sooo difficult to renew?  Doesn't Bill need the money?  Please help!!!!

2002 means you are trying to renew, but have logged in with the wrong LiveID - not the one for your original subscription.

Open OneCare and look at Help/About - the Subscription ID. Use that LiveID to log in at http://billing.microsoft.com to renew your subscription.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.
