OCS and conference alls RRS feed

  • Question

  • I understand that OCS 2007 is not capable of replacing my existing conference bridge.  I have a few questions on this topic:

    • Does anyone know if this might be possible in a future release of OCS?  I realize that no one can predict the future, but has anyone heard rumblings about whether or not this may make it into the rumored R2 release?
    • What 3rd party conferencing vendors support federated client OCS servers that would enable the use of OCS in an organization tied to a 3rd party conferencing service that connects outside callers?

    I appreciate any advice!

  • support of conference bridge in OCS: No idea when its gonna happen. Microsoft is pretty much agressive at unified communciations.. so no wonder if they introduce it.. but no clue when!

Third party services include CISCO, Nortel.. etc..

  • Bear in mind that if you wanted to integrated the likes of MeetingPlace from Cisco, you can't do this at present. You could do it with LCS but since the 3rd party conference integration was removed from OCS it is no longer possible. I would expect it to return at some point as there are lots of people (including service providers) pushing hard for it.
