How to configure Remote access with full filename display? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I have successfully installed and confiured WHS for Remote access via webbrowser. However, there ist one very annoying thing: when I go to a music or movie folder in my webbrowser, the filenames in this folder, as well as foldernames, are displayed containing only a few characters, abbreviated with ...

So, for example, when I  have a file calld "My Band Name - Title.mp3", only "My Band Nam..." is displayed. Besides, the number of letters for each filename seems to be totally random. Of course, there is plenty of space left on the screen to show the complete filename.

How can I change this odd behaviour?

  • Unfortunately, you can't. This is part of the ASP.Net server-side code, which you can't change.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

Thanks alot for your reply. However, I cannot understand why Microsoft does not fix this. This code is so weird, I can't even really see how it internally works, some files have fewer letters, some get more, but not depending on their actual width or similar.

What a waste of space in the table-views.

This really makes working with some of my favorite directories impossible, in which filenames usually begin with the same letters.

That's not what a user expects from a professional system that he spent a lot of money on really expects. Very disappointing :(
