Not getting forum thread email alerts. RRS feed

  • I am not getting my thread alerts to email (or anywhere else).

    I always checked the Alert me box (which I am seeing right now for this question), and when I check the My Alerts link at right (which I see right now), the setup alerts for the threads is there.

    The only relevant help is the following, but the My Alerts link, described on this page (http://alerts.live.com) is not there.  There are only alert links for stuff which has nothing to do with this (or any other) forum.

    Has anyone overcome this problem before?

    Here is the worthless Help page description:

    To redirect your alerts to your email account:

    1.       On the Windows Live Alerts home page, http://alerts.live.com, click “Sign In” and then sign in with your Windows Live ID.

    2.       Click “My Alerts”.

    3.       You will notice that for every content provider that have selected, you will see a corresponding "Edit Delivery" link.  Please click the link with respect to your settings and perform the following:  You will be directed to the content provider page.  Inside this page, you will see “Basic Delivery” and “Custom Delivery” – choose “Basic Delivery”.  Check “My email inbox.”

    Sorry about not replying to your query in another message thread. I got so involved with the question that I forget <sigh>

    If I had moderator permissions here, I'd move this for you. But unfortunately I haven't...

    You need to ask this in a "forums issues" forum. Unfortunately, the product-specific forum interfaces don't provide links to these forums. You can only get to them from the main page. Here's a link for you

    FWIW, I've had occasional Alert "outages" that were due to problems with the forum software. But those were quite a long time ago. Today, Alerts seem to be a bit slow; I suspect there's an issue with the software or servers that's delaying them by an hour or so. But nothing like the problem you're having.

    For anyone who is interested, this is a known bug, which Microsoft is working on.  I found the following thread on the forum you pointed me to, among the hilighted threads:

    Some people are reporting that their threads have started to return.  Mine have not shown up as yet.

    I have another issue, in that I had to make up a new display name to sign up for this forum - my old one from the previous, defunct forum, was not accepted, because it was already taken (by me).  So I added a "2" on the end of it.  Another glitch.
