been using this key for years... was original off the package... now a validation issue has come up... tried to re-validate using msoobe.exe but only a the blue window would come up with no words on it... not what... have 1 day left... am i going to lose everything if i don't solve it?

Try uninstalling Internet Explorer 8 from the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel then restart, and try once more.
Sometimes the glitch with the ativation wizard is caused by an IE8 installation that has problems.

Try Activating properly - you may need to activate by phonego to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools >Activate Windows.What EXACTLY happens when you do, and attempt activation?
