    Hi,
    It seems now AVG is only with a trial period. Is there any other better option for having a good and free anti-virus package?

    It is not, there is a free installation of AVG avaible.
    Just go to the download page and when it asks wether you want the trial or the free version, opt for the free one.

    Alternatively you could use Microsoft Security Essentials.

    AVG is a free antivirus program: you can download the installer from the following web adress

    http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2012/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

    If you want to know something more about Microsoft Security Essentials and download a copy for install visit the program's web site at the following web address

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx

    Remember to completely remove any other antivirus/antispyware program installed in your system before installing Microsoft Security Essentials.
