What is the best server case for WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to order this weekend a server chassis. I will also purchase  750G hard drives. I have my eye on an ANTEC TAKE 4 server case. However, I was wondering if I should invest in a SATA Drie cage as well?

1.) What is the best RACK MOUNTABLE server case?

2.) Do I need a SATA BACK PLANE CAGE?

    Thank you,

  • Here is the case I used for mine.  It has a LOT of room, though I it is not a rack mountable.  Why are you wanting to build a rack mountable server based on WHS?  Seems like if you're going to this effort, that WHS may not be what you're looking for.

I work in the high end custom a/v industry where we use Middle Atlantic Racks. I will be distributing Windows MEDIA CENTER via the new extenders throughout the home. I want my case to be rack moutable.

  • When it comes to rackmount cases, Antec doesn't seen to have that much to offer. For a 1U 4Drive setup I'd look at the Chenbro RM12404B. For a 2U 8Drive setup I'd look at the RM21508B. Anything bigger would probably be overkill but they have cases that can hold up to 24 drives.
