Why Can't I Post My Results Log RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried several times but everytime my post errors out when I try to post the results from the Microsoft Geniune Tool.  What am I doing wrong?  I hit the copy button in the tool and then paste the results into Notepad.  Then I copy the results from NotePad and paste them directly into the box I'm typing in now.  Then I hit the Submit button at the bottom of the page.

  • Hello JT6,

Rather that beat our heads against the wall....

I think you originally wrote that you bought two copies of what you thought were retail boxes of Office Professional 2007 on eBay.

Then when you installed them, when you tried to activate, you started seeing Windows and dialog boxes in Chinese writing.
Other people have posted this same experience.  The products turn out to be counterfeits--they are the bits for Office Professional Plus 2007, a volume licensing product, pressed onto a fake disc that says it is Office Professional 2007 (there is a difference between Pro and Pro Plus) and put into a package that says Office Professional 2007.

We always tell people to send the products back to the eBay sellers and get your money back, because they are counterfeits and are all too commonly sold on your typical internet auction sites.

If you can't get any satisfaction from the seller or eBay/payPal, then you can submit the materials to Microsoft so see if you qualify for the discounted or complimentary replacement program as described in the FAQ:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC

If you are able, please reply to this message so I know you got it.

  • Hello JT6,

    Hey!

OK, I am seeing your two snippets, one for an HP Pro Book and one for an HP/Compaq DX2450...

What I just posted before this applies....The Office Professional 2007s that you thought you were buying are really counterfeits, Pro Plus in a Pro box, with invalid volume licensing keys.

What to do still applies...send back to seller as counterfeits for full refund if possible...if not send to MS by running thru the Notifications screen you are seeing then clicking on the Learn More link.

  • That is right I bought these off of eBay.  They were listed as retail boxes.

Once I get new copies that are real do I need to re-install Office or can I just change the project keys?

I will let you know what I find out from the seller and eBay.  Thanks Dan!!

  • Hello JT6,

If it were me, I'd uninstall them and backup my data and then do a clean installation 'cause these counterfeits are often packed with malicious programs like keyloggers and botnet/zombie remote control backdoors.

(Well, if it were really me I'd just reimage my disks to the day before the installation of the bad programs, but only because I'm backed up seven ways from Sunday.)

(Well, if it were really REALLY me, I wouldn't have installed bogus programs, but let's not go there..:-)
