Windows Product Key Update Tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I run the Windows Product Key update tool for XP and it doesn't update the product key, will my PC still be working under the old key or will it be non fuctional? I don't want to end up with a paper weight.

  • Hello jimmysdown,

My understanding is that if the PK Updater cannot complete successfully, no permanent changes are made.

  • I ran the Windows Product Key update tool and it worked like a charm. No more validation problems.  Could anyone  reinstall windows with any disk and then run this update tool with the original COA and still be valid?

Thanks for your help my laptop is good to go again, I bought it used 1 year ago and just last week the validation problem came up. I had been using auto updates for a year. Thanks again. Bill
