What identifies an ISP?

Question
-
My email is connected via cable to Bright House. If my friend, using his computer but accessing the internet through my dsl modem, then goes to his own email program and sends an email, which ISP will be in the header of that sent email. In other words, can my ISP be identified because he used my cable router to access his provider?Sunday, November 29, 2015 3:00 AM

For office outlook you can check here.
You can also ask your ISP or in their forums or try them over here.

Hello,
Generally, the email will show as from your friend's email address, with the originating server being your ISP's (which is what it is in this case).

Karl,
FYI it never happens that way for me. Email I send no matter from who's internet provider always shows from my email address.

Dave,
The From line will show your email address.
The message headers though, should show the IP address of the originating server.
So, I guess it depends on how the friend connects.
An Outlook POP3 client should connect to the friend's own mail server to send, IF it's correctly configured though.
So, yes, the headers should show the friend's ISP's email server IP address as the originating server.

Karl, sure I get that about headers. It just seemed your reply read as something else.
