WHS and Dynamic DNS Service Providers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I use any other Dynamic DNS Service Providers other than Windows Live?  If so, where can I enter those configuration details?  The Windows Home Server Console for my installation is only allowing for a configuration that uses the Windows Live service.

  • You can't use an arbitrary dynamic DNS service, only one that Windows Home Server can communicate with.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • I need to be more specific.  The Windows Home Server documentation that I picked up mentions No-IP.com as an alternative provider for Windows Home Server.  When I follow the configuration steps to configure the domain I'm never presented with any other options than choosing from Windows Live Domain Service. Unfortunately my router does not seem to know how to utilize the services by Windows Live Domain Service.  My router is able to connect with No-IP.com.  But I'm not able to pass any configuration settings to Home Server to use that service.
