Product key has suddenly stopped validating RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought an unopened copy of Office Professional 2007 over a year ago from an individual on eBay.  It installed and has worked without problem since that time.  I have also successfully downloaded SP2 with no problems.  Recently, however, I started getting a message that the product won't validate.  I have checked every instance shown on the Microsoft website to determine if the product is pirated but they all check out so I'm convinced that it is genuine.  The online validation process says that there is some problem with the key.  The computer has not been accessed by anyone else during the time that the software has been installed.  An uninstall and reinstall of the software did not cure the problem.  There is no "Geographically Restricted" notice on the package but the COA does state that it was made in Ireland and is a "Not to US CD".  From everything I've read on the internet, that is not the same as being geographically restricted.  Please advise.

  • The only thing you can do is try a manual activation. Click Start and in the Run box type slui.exe 4, Enter. Select an activation centre near you, call, speak with a real person and explain what happened.

  • It looks like it’s a genuine validation prompt. There is a different forum that deals with validation issues.

To know more about genuine validation issues you will have to post in the right forum:-

  • Thanks Vinay, I wasn't aware of that forum and just happened upon the Office one here.  I have submitted this issue to the validation forum as you suggested.
