cannot read 3.5 inch CD-ROM disc RRS feed

  • I bought a USB to RS232 cable but cannot install the driver because my computer (Windows XP Home Edition) willnot read the 3.5 inch CD-ROM disc that goes with it. Please help how to reconfigure my computer systems so it it read 3.5 inch CD-ROM disc. Thanks.

    This situation is most likely the result of your CDROM drive not being compatible with the smaller CD supplied with the hardware.

    Three suggestions:

    1.  Using another computer, copy the contents to a USB flash drive, insert the flash drive inot your computer,  and install from it.

    2.  Download the drivers that are on the small CD directly from the hardware manufacturer's website and install the drivers from the hard drive.

    3.  If you are on a LAN, insert the small CD into another LAN computer.  If it can read the CD, temporarily share that computer's CD drive on the LAN and install from there.
