Want to get certified RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been in a dead end job field for some time. I was just let go from my last job and will be on unemployment for some time. I figured I would use this time to get certified in an IT field. Call Center work is getting old hence wanting to move over to the IT field.

I have a good bit of self taught knowledge about computers and software. I build my own. Install windows and office and other apps. I am decent at troubleshooting issues with computers. Networking is not my strong suit at all.

I want to pick up some MS certifications but am not sure which way to go. I looked at
MTA route but not sure how many doors it would open. I then saw MCSA but would want  it in Windows 7 and Window 8 / 8.1. I am also fairly good with Office so thought an MOS cert would help as well.

Can someone point me in a good path and also let me know what the best self study way to get through the exams would be?

  • Good day! You´re taking the right path here, if you are intrested in certifying, good choice! I have the experience, that without certifiation your chances to ged a decent job drops heavily. Another factor is your work experience. Building your own hardware and installing Windows is nothing, sorry for telling you the truth.

Maybe the easiest way is to get MCSA certification with Windows 10. Another, harder way is to get around Server MCSA. Cloud knowledge and services will be asked in a feature for sure, if you´re up to it :)

ps. I wouldn´t bother to go through W7/8 or W2012 server paths. I would wait for new certs to be available.
