can't install ethernet drivers... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey Guys,

    Finally setup my Home server..

Installed and everything is fine, but the Ethernet drivers..

I got 2 cd's with the motherboard, a vista and a xp one. I've tried installin the drivers for both, but each time it says the device isn't installed properly.. (error code 30 i think).

    The motherboard is :
    ASROCK 939n68pv-glan
    Northbridge: Nvidia GeForce 7050PV
    Southbridge: W83627EHF.

I have tried downloading drivers of the internet but still isn't working..

  • I went to nvidia.com and found your nforce chipset..  Put in windows server 2003 and "no drivers were found for your configuration"..  Looks likey both asrock and nvidia don't make windows server 2003 drivers..  You probably will have to buy a nic/lan card.  They should be very cheap!

  • You might get by with using 'compatibility mode' with the XP drivers; however, this is a server so do you really want all your most valuable information on something which might have inbuilt problems.

Any and all drivers should be suitable for Server 2003, which is the underlying operating system.

If you have the option, a server compatible motherboard/drivers etc is the best choice.
