GENUINE EDITION OF XP SUDDENLY BLOCKED SO NO UPDATES AVAILABLE RRS feed

  • Question

  • I note that the above comments are quite old (2007).  My genuine XP version has been installed for approx 2 years and has only be reinstalled once during that time.  Now, however, noticing that I was not receiving automatic updates I discovered that my code has been blocked (in red letters!) whilst below Microsoft ask me to purchase Windows 7.  Why is my code suddenly blo9cked and is there a way around this?

Thank  you for any help - I have tried just about eveerything.

This installation of XP is based on a Blocked Volume License Key, and therefore non-genuine.
For what version and edition of Windows is the computer licensed according to the COA sticker on the case?
It's also likely that the installed version of Office is non-genuine, unless it was provided by your employer - as it's an Enterprise edition, which is only sold in bulk to organisations for use on their own machines, or through the HUP program.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
     - IN YOUR OWN THREAD, please

  • Thank you for your efforts, at least I know that it isn't a bug at work.  My PC is for home use only so I don't have a sticker on it, I do, however, have the two original CDs of Office Home and Student and Windows XP which I purchased and have the installation keys.  Why do they bother selling these programmes if they then decide to "ban" them?
I guess I shall just have to pay again.
    Thank you again.

  • Those Non-Genuine disks/product keys were licensed for exclusive use by a specific organization.  Most likely the organization closed or the disks (or product keys) were stolen or leaked to the internet. Either way, when it was found that the software/product keys were no longe in the sole possession of the organization, the keys were blocked so they could no longer be used.
