Getting non genuine license message.

Question
-
Hello,
I'm currently getting a non-genuine license error on a relatively (2017) new Dell laptop. I recently had to upgrade the hdd, so I believe that may be my problem. I reloaded Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (which is version OS the laptop originally came with) and I'm using the same key that was used to activate it. (saved with program - Belarc). I rechecked the key with what I had on the Belarc profile and they are the same. I'm still unable to get Windows activated, and I'm not sure what I need to do to get it activated now.
Thanks,
Jim

Reinstallation of Windows 7 Pro in recent computers MUST be done with the manufacturer's Recovery media - they contain thenecessary licenses to match with the SLIC table in the BIOS.Unlike machines constructed for Windows 7, machine sold with downgrade rights to Win 7 Pro do not have a COA sticker from which it would be possible to apply the Product Key for activation.
In short, you'll have to reinstall with the manufacturer's Recovery media to be able to activate this license.Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth No - I do not work for Microsoft, or any of its contractors. - Proposed as answer by Noel D PatonModerator Saturday, June 17, 2017 11:39 AM

MGA Diagnostic Report is Required:
To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once downloaded, run the tool.Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.Carey Frisch
