OneCare update still going on? Can't launch virus proptection. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Earlier today, a message came up and told me that it was going to update OneCare today.  That was hours ago and I still cannot activate my virus protection and go online (won't go online without virus protection.)

It said something like, it will let me know when update is done.  When will this be??  Did they forget to let me know?  I need virus protection before I go online....I need to go online now!

    Thank you very much,

    Connie

  • Connie, if you have not already tried the tool in the link I provided, please do so. If that fails to solve the problem, please contact support.

The first message about the update was that OneCare was about to update. That takes only a few minutes. The next thing that should happen is that a message will appear advising you to reboot the PC. If you did not get this message, then it would appear that the update failed.

Your best bet is to contact support -

  • Are you getting a message that the virus and spyware protection won't start? Did you reboot after the update? Did you encounter any other errors?

If the message is that it is turned off and you are risk, try this tool -

  • It says exactly "Windows Live OneCare cannnot change your virus and spyware protection settings at this time.  Please try again later or restart your computer."

The message that came on my computer when I started it, about 4 hours ago said, do not turn off your computer or restart it.  Something was said something to do with we will let you know when I can do the above.

What do I do now that will correct this problem....that WILL solve this problem?
