Screen goes blank after next button is pressed

Question
-
My Live One Care subscription was about to run out and I bought a new disk. I went through all of the steps correctly, After giving my Live 1 name and password, the instructions stated to put inj product key press next. I did so most of the evening, over and over. Each time the information screen goes totally blank (white inside a frame) and nothing happens after that. The hard drive works for about 1 minute then stops only to blip a couple of times. Nothing happens after that. Well here it is 3:30am and here I sit. Whats wrong?Friday, August 15, 2008 10:31 AM

Go to billing - https://billing.microsoft.com/home.aspx find your One Care subscription and select "Renew this service". At the payment screen select "Pre-paid PIN or Token" as the payment method and enter your 25 digit product key. This should work to renew your subscription.Friday, August 15, 2008 12:43 PMModerator

This does not work. I had removed the program to install another virus program then deceded to stay with Live 1 care. The account no longer exists in my billing so there is nothing to select to get to the 25 digit pin. Is it fixable?Friday, August 15, 2008 5:53 PM

Since you are installing a fresh copy of OneCare with a CD and going to the Billing page for your LiveID doesn't show the subscription (which means your subscription was under a different LiveID), you should treat this as a new install. Using the LiveID you didn't see the subscription with at the Billing site, proceed with activation, but I suspect that whatever other antivirus product you installed has not been completely removed.
Use the Cleanup tool - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=828910&SiteID=2 - to remove all of OneCare from the PC.
Remove the other security software completely, using a utility for that program if needed and available from the vendor:
Norton Removal Tool - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
McAfee Removal Tool - http://www.majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html
Review this post for the KB article to troubleshoot install problems - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1588602&SiteID=2
Then install from http://onecare.live.com and activate with your LiveID and PIN.
