Multiple CRM Instances in a Single Domain? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, can anyone tell me if it's possible to install multiple instances of CRM 4.0 within a single domain. We'd like to do so for the purposes of having a test and live system. If it is possible, what are the drawbacks?

  • Yes, there's no problem doing these. Each deployment will create its own 5 AD groups (PrivUserGroup, ReportingGroup etc) with a guid for a suffix. I'd suggest creating separate Organizational Units for these groups for each deployment to make it easy to identify the groups.

Each CRM deployment will need to be installed on a separate SQL instance (as each CRM deployment has it's own MSCRM_Config), and a separate Reporting Server if you use the Reporting Server Connector (note this has to be a separate server, not just a separate instance)

Otherwise there are no other issues
