How to post an image? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When responding to some forum questions, especially in the Expression Design Forum, it would be helpful to be able to include / attach an image and / or a stroke example (actual .sks file) to the response. Are there or will there be any provisions to add clarifying attachments? TIA

  • Thanks Anna,

I'll have to check out Windows Live Skydrive for temp storage/sharing. Annie Ford discovered a way to have the image show in the post. Look in Expression Design>Opacity Effects and Expression Sandbox>Test Post an Image.

I agree. In the meantime, I've been posting images that I want to reference to a photo gallery on my blog and posting a URL to the image. One benefit of that approach is that I can point to that same url whenever I need to in future posts.

The last thing we want is Microsoft to store images. Given the volume of posts over time, storing images would render the performance of these forums even worse.

Also, given the number of free hosting services (including Live Folders), I think it's a great decision to not allow attaching of images/files.

  • Hmmm...A link to an image will be fine. Not including a quote in a response also saves space.

I just checked out her post...excellent! Just simple html in the Design surface. I'll have to try that next time I want to share an image. I wonder if Phil's concerns are warranted? I'll ask in the moderator forums.

  • Anna,

It was/is so easy to post a helpful image in the old NG's; picture = many words!? It's a lot more effort to post it to linked site and then respond in the forum. Perhaps allow limited size pics. My 2 cents.

I discovered the "=" omission you mentioned in the Sandbox response. Thanks!

  • I also wonder why in 2010 it seems not be possible to include screenshots or images in postings. Don't tell me MSFT can't handle that :) Neither Storage Space nor Performance should be an issue. Or MSFT is doing something fundamentally wrong.

  • I agree with you Anna, It's easy add a URL with a reference to my blog, and there you can put any images that you want.

To edit your blog you just have to enter to  your profile, then spaces-> blog and you add a blog with the image that you want , later enter to configure and give the permission to all .

Later you copy the address in the top and that it's all

  • mmm, no, as I wrote up, the forums of mocosoft do not allow to upload images, I think that the reason is for questions of space.

If you have an account in hotmail. You can make a blog and write the address here so you can redirection to this page and everybody can see your image.

To edit your blog you just have to enter to  your profile, then spaces-> blog and you add a blog with the image that you want , later enter to configure and give the permission so everybody can see it .

Later you copy the address that is in the top of your web explorer and past it here. and that it's all

    This is an example

  • If MSFT has a problem with space then they really have a big problem. Places like Stackoverflow allow posting screenshots without a problem and screenshots are extremly important in such support forums. Seems MSFT is eager to move the users away from their platforms to 3rd party platforms.

Yes there are tons of ways to get it done, but why not the easiest one for the user ? Nearly everyplace nowadays you can add a picture to a posting. But I can see that MSFT is different to everyplace.
