Invalid Office Professional 2007

Question
-
I bought a genuine, sealed and unopened, microsoft office professional 2007. COA, product key, packaging, etc, all seem to be in order, but i am now obviously invalid like everybody else here. I bought it from an Ebay seller. This is also the second computer I have installed it on. Could that be the problem? However the first one was returned under warrenty and i no longer have it. I think the diagnostic you want is as follows.....

Hi TasmaniaShop,
Unfortunately, the installation of Office 2007 Pro Plus on your computer is nongenuine. Please refer to this snippet of the report:

Here is a breakdown of the results.
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
Office Professional Plus 2007 is a Volume Licensing edition of Office 2007 not authorized for sale to individuals, and it was installed with a Volume Licensing Key that was generated by a pirating program known as a "key generator" or keygen for short. In other words, the Volume Licensing Product Key used to install this copy of Office was made up by a pirating program that generates Product Keys that can unlock software; this Product Key was never an official, valid Product Key issued by Microsoft.
Office 2007 Pro Plus http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101674101033.aspx is a superset of Office Pro 2007 tailored to corporate environments and has two programs that Pro does not, Communicator 2007 and InfoPath 2007. Because of its corporate orientation Pro Plus leaves out Business Contact Manager. In the US and UK it also leaves out Accounting Express; in other markets, Accounting Express is not part of either suite. Office 2007 Pro Plus is only available thru Volume Licenses and is not sold at retail or in the retail packaging that you have: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx
You can confirm this by checking to see if you have Communicator 2007 and InfoPath 2007 installed. (Or if not presently installed, were they on the list of programs available to be installed during Setup.) And of course your box label would say "Outlook with Business Contact Manager" but there is no BCM available to be installed with Pro Plus. That confirms that regardless of what the labels on the box and CD say, the CDs provided really have the "bits" for Pro Plus.
Speaking of your CD, have a very close look at it and see if the hologram is actually embedded within the plastic of the CD, or is it a very thin label affixed to the top surface of the CD. If a label, that would be yet another indicator of a counterfeit. However, even CDs with holograms that are embedded can still be counterfeit, because there were reports that the plants that were making the real CDs during regular working hours were also making counterfeits after hours! http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2007/jul07/07-24CounterfeitingSyndicatePR.mspx and http://www.chinalawandpractice.com/Article/1690154/Channel/9938/LARGEST-ANTI-COUNTERFEITING-RAID-EVER-TARGETS-FAKE-MICROSOFT-PRODUCTS.html
IMO your first course of action should be to contact the seller of Office 2007 and inform them that you will be returning your software for a full refund because it is pirated software. (Hopefully you paid with PayPal or a Credit Card.) As an individual consumer, the seller should never have sold you a Volume Licensing edition of Office, and certainly should not have sold you any software with pirated "keygen" Product Keys. DO NOT settle for getting another Product Key for Office that might work for a while---your seller has already cheated you once, and with people (unlike stocks!!!) past performance is a very good indicator of future performance.
Once you have received your refund, please purchase your Office software from a name-brand, reputable local or online store. Sadly, a huge percentage of Microsoft software sold at "auctions sites" is counterfeit.
An alternate course of action is to submit a piracy report to Microsoft and send them your materials (the CDs, the packaging, etc). If the materials are deemed to be "high quality," you may qualify for free replacements from Microsoft under the Genuine Office Complimentary Offer. Please see the info at the FAQ: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EEPAC

Morning TasmaniaShop,
Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. Have you contacted EBay and/or PayPal regarding this problem? Where Paypal is an Ebay company, both websites are separate. Both websites will want to be contacted regarding your transaction to work with you. Where we are not aware of their exact process, we do recommend you looking into Paypal’s Resolution Center if you used Paypal to pay for your transaction. Next, please fill out a Piracy Report located here:
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/reporting/default.aspx
Thank you,
Stephen
