Windows 7 refusing to active RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I type in slui into run the program comes up saying that my copy of windows 7 is valid. However, whenever I try to open word it asks me for a 25 digit key. I have tried the back of multiple cd case i have around which none of the codes have worked, I have run belarc, and the code it gave me did not work. I have tried the 25 digit code on the side of my computer, which it also did not accept. Some of my copy of windows 7 came with the computer, but we bought a home and student edition as well to add publisher (so word should work either way).

  • Word is part of Office , not Windows.

a version of Office was installed on your machine by the manufacturer as a trial - to be able to use it after the end of the trial period, you have to purchase a valid License for Office.

It looks to me as if the Trial is still installed, and is confusing the issue.

You should uninstall ALL Office programs, and then reinstall your Office Home & Student edition, and re-activate that, using the Key from the Office pack.

Use the Office Cleanup tool to ensure that you have removed everything, before the reinstall. - see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

  • The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows 7, the operating system, and not for Microsoft Word or Microsoft Office.  You need a Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word product key in order to activate Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word.  Please see: How to replace a lost or damaged Microsoft Office product key
