Suddenly not valid RRS feed

  • Question

  • Suddenly not valid a few weeks ago. However, I went to the website to validate it and it tells me it is genuine. I also used the telephone activation and it also says it is genuine, but the warning message still shows up. I used the product key on my computer to activate it using slui.exe and it tells me I am genuine as well, but the message still keeps popping up. The property window in my computer also says it is genuine. I also do not use any registry cleaning software as well, and have a CoA on the back of my computer. I also went to the http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and it says my computer is genuine. I can also run Windows update, it's just the pop-up that has been annoying. I also installed the WAT update.

    The MGAdiag information is here. Parts of it is Chinese but I think it's easy to infer what they mean. I personally think it is because of corrupt files but I don't have the means to re-install windows because it is factory installed and I do not have the disk or anything.

    It sounds to me as if you have a problem with a Race Condition, rather than a real problem - there is nothing that I can see wrong with your MGADiag report.

    Race Conditions are often caused by having too many security programs installed.
    What Anti-Virus is currently installed?
    What other AV programs have EVER been installed on this system?

    What other security software is also installed?

    Have you recently checked the system for malware using up-to-date detection? - with which  program?

  • I have PC-cillin installed when I bought it from the store and have not installed any other AV programs. I ran Malwarebytes a couple days ago to check if it was a maleware problem, it didn't find anything using their up-to-date database. To clarify, I run Malwarebytes once a month before I had this problem.

  • As far as I am aware, ASUS do not provide PC_Cillin pre-installed - it's usually Norton.

    There is a good chance that you have a conflict somewhere - I would suggest running the Norton Removal Tool to remove any traces of Norton, and also MCPR to remove traces of McAfee (just in case)

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home

    http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS101331&lang=en_US&prior_tid=2&AnswerID=16777218&turl==http%3A%2F%2Fkb.mcafee.com%2Finfocenter%2Findex%3Fpage%3Dcontent%26id%3DTS101331%26actp%3Dsearch%26viewlocale%3Den_US

    You may need to re-install PC-Cillin afterwards, and/or reset a number of other things.
