WHS v1 Domain Name Setup Error (persistent) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've read all the similar threads here to no avail. I keep getting the same Error for the last week:  "Domain Name Setup Failed - An unexpected error occurred communicating with the Windows Live Domain Service. 80000190"

However, Windows Live accepts my domain name (it keeps popping up as linked to my Live ID). Additionally, I've made changes to my Welcome screen that appear to be saved (i.e. my non-uPnP ATT router has a "public" IP address associated with the router that I can type into a web browser page which actually takes me to the homeserver page; but I'm doing this from my registered laptop at home so I'm not sure this would work remotely nor do I understand why I cant access it by typing the name of the domain I'm trying to setup).

I have setup the forwarded ports as instructed elsewhere (http, https, rdp; as well as ftp).

I'm not sure if this is just a Windows Live Domain issue (seems like a long time for it to keep occurring) or my router setup. I've attached screen shots of my non-uPnP router setup for the server.

  • Make sure your server is fully updated: using the Windows Home Server console, check for updates until no more are found.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
