New Install - No Access from Clients to Shared Folders

Question
-
I decided to start again, new build and work through some of the things again.I started with clean drives, 2 - 1TB drives and one 1.5TB external. I loaded Vail which it does on the first drive, activated, created a user account on the server and updated from WU what needed to be done.Prior to this I had uninstalled the Connectors from two Win7 x64 Ultimate computers, forgot to mention this. Before I did the rebuild I wanted to get everything cleaned up.I set the rest of the server up, static IP address, website for RA and so forth. When this was completed I then installed the Connectors on the two computers and when that was complete I opened up the shortcut on the desktops for the Shared Folders. Access denied, contact your network administrator. This is the same on both Win7 computers.I can RA into both I can go in by the dashboard and the launchpad but the Shared folders I am denied.I pinged the "server" from the main client and it showed the IPv6 address when this was done. If I ping the IP address that I set up it shows connectivity to that IP.What am I missing, this should be a simple set up, haven't even put files on Vail yet, this should be straight forward and work from a clean install.

Don, please file a bug report on Connect . Include logs from server and at least one client that you're having trouble with.

Did you log into Launchpad? If Homegroup is enabled you will need to log into Launchpad to prevent the access denied message.
Even if Homegroup is not used you will need to log into launchpad unless you have the same username / password setup on Vail and the Client.

I can log into Launchpad, RDC and anything else. I don't use Homegroup I am looking to find out why the permissions are denied from the Shared Folders desktop shortcut. This was a standard in v1.

Did another "flatten" this morning, did everything that needed to be done and the access to the "shared folders" from the desktop is the same.

With the recent Vail build I decided that I would do a fresh install of Win7 x64 Ultimate that had never had a connector to v1 or v2 on it.I loaded the connector for v2 on it and then went in and tried to open up the shared folders and received access denied with that also. I then logged into Launchpad and went through the various applications on there and could get to everything including the Dashboard. When I went to Shared Folders in Launchpad I also received the access denied notification.Just thought that I would add this.

I too would like to 'start again' and do clean re-install. Is it best to uninstall the connector software from teh client computers or can that be left in place?Wednesday, August 4, 2010 2:29 AM
