Checkbox and Conditional Visibility RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I am trying to make a field invisible by default and the field becomes visible when a condition is met.(triggered by a checkbox, in my case).

[Checkbox Field] - Is the address above a foreign address?  YES/NO

    [A List of Countries Field]

    Here is what I did:

    1. I placed both fields on the form.

    2. I changed the setting on [A List of Countries Field] field property and un-checked "Visible by default".

    3. I selected   [A List of Countries Field] and clicked on "Extended Field Editor".

    4. Clicked "Visibility Rules" tab and set "If the checkbox is true then display it".

When I checked the checkbox, nothing happened. Am I missing anything?

  • Is this CRM 2011 or 2013?

In CRM 2011, this can only be done through JavaScript.  I would recommend looking to the SDK for details.  CRM 2013 has Business Rules which handle these kinds of conditions, and can be set up entirely through the UI.

  • It is CRM 2011. Thanks!

I am very new to the MS Dynamics. I am slowly getting how this works but things like this make me very frustrated.  We need to have Javascript to trigger conditional statement or even setting up default value...that's insane... I could probably figure them out eventually but I wonder if I should just use other form program and get a CSV file and import data periodically.

Right now I am also tying to find how to get a public url of the form. Simple task like this seems very hard.

Thanks for listening to my whining lol damn..
