Backup additional external drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to create a backup plan to include
    (1) my desktop(hub)
    (2) additional external drive storage  (150 GB),
    (3) a laptop (home network connection)
to another external drive (300 GB) connected to the hub desktop computer.

I am using the trial version of Windows Live One Care and have it installed on both computers, but the laptop doesn't show up as connected to the One Care Circle backup plan. Before I start using this program, I want to know if it will include the additional external drive in a backup plan. If not, I prefer to use another backup program.

    Thank you, Mimitech

  • OneCare cannot backup the contents of an external drive. It can backup *to* and external drive, but not from one.
In order for the PCs in your Circle to use a centralized backup, first all PCs must be activated with the same LiveID/Subscription ID. Then, the PC that will host the backup device needs to be made into a "hub" PC in the Circle and on that Hub PC, you configure backup for the Circle. You will also need to configure permissions for the backup destination for it to work.
