Permissions to delete registry entry How to RRS feed

  • Question

  • With Windows 7 64 and regedit I am trying to delete the registry entry  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USBPRINT\XeroxPhaser_3200MFP

I keep getting access denied.  Checking the permissions of the entry I get Everyone Allow Read, OWNER RIGHTS Allow Special Permissions, SYSTEM Allow Full Control and Read.

I have tried to get Everyone Full Control and change any of the established permissions using (Everyone)(OWNER RIGHTS)(SYSTEM)/Advanced/Edit only to see two (Everyone)(OWNER RIGHTS)(SYSTEM) Entries and Access Denied.  There appears no way to delete one of the two entries with the same name.  I have tried (Everyone)(OWNER RIGHTS)(SYSTEM)/Remove only to see a message about inheriting permissions that leads nowhere with no regard to my selections.

Can someone please suggest a method to alter the permissions?

    Howard
