Problem with CRM Plugin Registration tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I'm trynig to register plugin using the Plugin Registration tool, and i can't register new step. For any plugin registered on the server, and for any step, i keep getting the same error over and over again:

Unhandled Exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request.
    Detail: <detail><error>
      <code>0x80040216</code>
      <description>An unexpected error occurred.</description>
      <type>Platform</type>
    </error></detail>

       at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)

at PluginRegistrationTool.RegistrationHelper.RegisterStep(CrmOrganization org, CrmPluginStep step) in C:\CRM_SDK\sdk\tools\pluginregistration\RegistrationHelper.cs:line 475
       at PluginRegistrationTool.StepRegistrationForm.btnRegister_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\CRM_SDK\sdk\tools\pluginregistration\StepRegistrationForm.cs:line 438

Plugin have been developed on the other server, and deployed using the same tool, and it works. It must be something with the tool, but i can't figure out what.

If i, instead of registering assembly the usual way use import/export option, i'm getting the following:

Unhandled Exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request.

       at PluginRegistrationTool.ImportExportForm.btnExecute_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\CRM_SDK\sdk\tools\pluginregistration\ImportExportForm.cs:line 126

    Please help!

  • This error message doesn't give any useful information. Can you enable tracing to see if there's a more useful error message on the server ?

  • Maybe this will give you some clue: This installation of CRM was restored from another one, on our development server. On that server, there were some plugins registered, and those were transfered with database restore. Those can't be disabled using the tool, with the same error as the above.
