Where does MSMPILaunchSvc store the credentials RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are currently testing the installation process of an MPI application which uses the MSMPILaunchSvc on each worker node. Specifically we need to test different scenarios in which the user has to enter his/her credentials for the remote computers.

In some scenarios, the launch service has the user credentials "securely stored on all the hosts specified in the mpiexec command line" (MS MPI release notes). For each successive call to mpiexec, the credentials don't need to be entered again.

How can I reset the cached credentials, so I am prompted again for the password next time I call mpiexec?

    Thanks for any help!

  • Hi Johannes,

You can find the credentials encrypted and saved in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MPI\MSMPI_Credentials - just delete that key and the cached credentials will be deleted
