"FILE IN USE" can not rename, copy, cut, or delete files from WHS

Question

Hello,
Every time i try edit one of my WHS files (cut, copy, delete, or rename) I get an error FILE IN USE "this action can't be completed because the file is open in another program." I do not have it open in another program. I have tried on several machines XP,W7, and Vista and get the same errors. I have also tried making changes to files that are not duplicated or under media share and also get this error. I hope someone can help.
Kindest regards,

Hello,
What type of file are you trying to edit? Did you originally copy the file to the share using the UNC path (\\server\[sharename]) or some other method? Is it just that one file or a bunch of files?

I have tried modifying .avi .pdf .mp3 with no luck. I have tried using the file share links setup on the install and i have also tried using the console and i have also tried modifying them using the advance admin console in WHS. I sent a report with CAB 811316288 if that helps at all. Thank you for any help that you can provide.Saturday, March 13, 2010 8:33 PM

I have figured something out. If i turn on off my Vista Ultimate pc and shutdown and restart my WHS. I can modify (cut, copy, delete and rename) files on my WHS.
However if i start my Vista PC it gives me the File In Use error. I am guessing that it has something to do with media sharing?? Anyone have any Ideas?
Thanks for any advice.

Media sharing from your Vista client could explain .avis and .mp3s (doesn't explain the .pdfs though). Do you have any media-type services that run at startup on your Vista client?
